SBS Gayo Daejun 2012

MBC Gayo Daejun has yet to arrive, but I already think that SBS Gayo Daejun will be my favorite one this year.

Simon D, Epik High, Dynamic Duo – Cypher (MV)

I do like me some rapping hip hop every so often and THIS IS SO AWESOME YOU WILL BE FLAPPING AND HOPPING AT THE END–oh wait no Tablo had that covered, sorry.

S.M. The Performance (aka dancing pretty boys)
SHINee’s Taemin & Minho, EXO’s Kai & Lay, Super Junior’s Eunhyuk & Donghae, DBSK’s Yunho

HOOOOOOOOO BOY THEY ARE ALL SO POWERFUL I had to watch this multiple times to contain my feels even though I’m usually not a sucker for dancing. This is just /THAT/ impressive.

Taemin was outstanding, and that move with putting on the jacket was great.
Kai has always been an established dancer but Lay finally gets some spotlight too! Except not really because they don’t film him as much, but I’m just glad he’s there! I LOOOOVE the trade-offs between these two, as if they’re battling it out but still somewhat mirroring each other and in sync.
Of course, who doesn’t already know that Eunhyuk’s an incredible dancer? :D (HIM AT 3:52 WOOOOW)
Yunho’s entrance is beyond hot. Dayummmm.
Donghae’s dancing was never that “powerful” but his moves always look so fluid! (I was SO impressed by his jump and flip part later.)

With the exception of Minho, they couldn’t have picked a more flawless line-up because these are truly some of SM’s finest dancers. No but srsly what is Minho doing there because they have enough pretty boys anyway; I never quite thought of Minho as the strongest dancer. Makes sense that he didn’t get a solo dance.

CN Blue & FT Island

Okay I have to say that I LOVE that these two groups are not only collabing but MIXED TOGETHER as if they’re one group but in two teams.
Furthermore, all of them look like they’re having soooo much fun! Look at that smile on Jonghyun’s face LOL. I really do feel like these two groups are brothers, both on and off stage. My only complaint is that they never filmed the drummers so we don’t get to see Minhyuk and Minhwan rocking out :c

I’m not very observant so I didn’t even notice that EXO-M had come up to join their other half, so I literally SCREAMED aloud when I saw Kris filling in for the second half of the screamo bit LOL. IDK HOW I DIDN’T NOTICE THAT THE GROUP DOUBLED IN SIZE, BUT YEAH. Allkpop only labelled the video as EXO-K so I wasn’t anticipating the twist hahaha. OT12 <3

The standout here was Chen imo, who not only got to finally sing in his native language Korean, but belted his guts out and was fabulous.

Park Jimin (15&), Baek Ah Yeon, Lee Hi

For some reason, this is one of my favorite stages of SBS Gayo Dajun even though I have complaints. Something about it just sparkles.
While I feel kind of bad that the three of them (where is Yerin ;AA; ?) are crammed together into one performance, I like that all three of them were brought together because they’re (+ Yerin) JYP/YG’s fresh rookie but powerhouse singing girls who can defs hold their own just with their voices.
I must say that Lee Hi owned the solo perfs; she had the perfect attitude and hit all the right points. Meanwhile, Jimin was strong but veery pitchy, and Baek Ah Yeon lacked the power and spark to stand up to the other girls. I did hold my breath at Baek Ah Yeon’s long high note though. :’D

Then they come together to sing Mercy.
.______. which is just.. really.. very awkward because SNSD just came back with Dancing Queen, a remake of the same song. Of all songs they could’ve chosen, why…

Jimin aced this one with her belting and attitude. Baek Ah Yeon REALLY surprised me by shining here too with her high notes and runs! She was soft at first so I didn’t expect much, but dayumm. Lee Hi’s voice on the other hand seemed somewhat one-dimensional in this song.

Mystic White – Mermaid Princess
KARA’s Jiyoung, Secret’s Sunhwa, SISTAR’s Bora, 4minute’s Gayoon, After School’s Lizzy

This is the only Colors of K-pop performance that I’ve seen so far, and I do have to commend SBS for pulling all the stops for this Gayo Daejun! They did a great job imo. I mean, it’s awesome to be pulling members of a bunch of different groups, but they also had FULL NEW SONGS composed for each group. And then the members had to learn and record the songs, and learn the choreography that was come up just for this. The commitment that was put into this by both the members and production team can almost match that of what is put into a real group’s single (okay not really, but it is still admirable that they go through the entire process).

Watching this, it feels like we’re watching a new group’s debut LOL except without the rookie feel. The members of Mystic White compliment each other really well and I can see why they were put into this group.

I do kind of feel as though they wasted Bora’s rapping potential though, or maybe it’s just because I’m not too big a fan on that cutesy rapping style.

I LOVE THE TRANSITION from the underwater VCR to the performance, with the way it seems like they’re rising out of the water and onto stage; it’s brilliant!

Dramatic Blue – Tearfully Beautiful
Infinite’s Woohyun, BEAST’s Yoseob, Teen Top’s Niel, 2AM’s Jo Kwon, MBLAQ’s G.O

…….wow. I’m only now realizing that they literally casted all main lead vocals. Interesting.
While they sound pretty solid as a group, I guess they kind of lack that spark haha. Unlike Mystic White, it’s pretty easy to tell that this is a collab and not a real group because I don’t see them complimenting each other or making up for each other’s weaknesses? Not to mention because they’re all mostly trained in vocals, some of the dancing felt really awkward LOL.

The animation at the beginning was really cute. But then I think, WAIT.. ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS STAND IN FRONT OF A GREEN SCREEN and Mystic White was freaking submerged in water LOL.

I did however enjoy how carefree this performance felt!

Dynamic Black – Yesterday
2AM’s Jinwoon, MBLAQ’s Lee Joon, BEAST’s Kikwang, Infinite’s Hoya, Teen Top’s L.Joe

WOW! This is arguably the best group and performance of Colors of K-pop, and I’m not surprised. They truly are dynamic.. AND dramatic, dazzling, and even somewhat mystic/romantic.
That opening sequence was way too long and overdone though. But the actual performance is kick-ass!

They have great group chemistry! Saying that they’re a real group would actually be believable.
And I’m realizing that I guess they intended for Dramatic Blue to be the vocalist group and for Dynamic Black to be the dancing group, but it’s interesting because Dynamic Black’s vocals are actually…pretty..really good. Although a complaint would be that there’s a lot of backtrack and sometimes I couldn’t tell if they were lipsyncing. All in all, they got some of the most versatile boygroup members for this group. I mean, Joon, Kikwang, and Hoya (ESPECIALLY this boy) are all usually known for their dancing, but they also can hold up their end with their vocals. And Jinwoon is rockin’ for a member of a ballad group.

I also think that this group got some of the better choreography. THAT PART WHEN L.JOE RAPS AND THE CUBES START ASCENDING and it’s like a flight of stairs.. THAT IS AWESOMEEE. And the part where it’s like Hoya’s breaking free from the other guys’ grasp.
Not to mention, the line distribution is pretty equal all across the board. And they are all charismatic. GOOD FOR YOU, DYNAMIC BLACK. I THINK YOU WIN.

Dazzling Red – This Person
SISTAR’s Hyorin, 4minute’s Hyuna, After School’s Nana, Secret’s Hyosung, KARA’s Nicole

…uh. Okay, I really liked the opening sequence–I thought it was classy and befitting for the group. But the actual performance was kind of disappointing and dull all-around. :’c

The song and line distribution were reaaally repetitive. I have to say that the only things that changed the song up and made it have more depth were Hyuna’s raps but I wasn’t very fond of her rapping here. None of them got to show off their vocals; not even HYORIN, the queen of singing. The dancing was also repetitive and had no outstanding points. Most of the time, they were swaying and trying to be sexy.

They do, however compliment each other pretty well and are in sync. :’D

December 29, 2012. 15&, 2AM, 4Minute, After School, Baek Ah Yeon, BEAST, C.N. Blue, Dong Bang Shin Ki, Dynamic Duo, Epik High, EXO, FT Island, Infinite, Kara, Lee Hi, MBLAQ, Performance, Secret, SHINee, Simon D, SISTAR, Super Junior, Teen Top. Leave a comment.

Dream High Episodes 1 – 4

So I started watching Dream High 2. In fact, I FINALLY forced myself to finish watching Dream High so that I would be able to watch DH2 without spoilers, and I’m glad that I did. =A= If you haven’t finished the first season, d-don’t watch the second season LOL. The OPENING SCENE of the second season is a remake of the ENDING scene of the first season. Oh and you might not want to read the rest of this entry either.

So far, I’m not enjoying DH2 that much, and there are a lot of reasons for this that range from discontinuity, editing, scripting, directing, casting, the plotline…

I really feel that Dream High has lost its magic. There was this beautiful thing in the first season that just really grabbed your heart. You connected and couldn’t help loving all of the 6 main characters who were all talented, intelligent, and heartfelt. You had sympathy and respect for the teachers who on the inside, had kind hearts. It was a story about dreams, emotion, and never giving up. There was Samdong, the sweet and naive country bumpkin who didn’t let his origins or ear problems stop him from pursuing his dreams of being a singer and making it big. And you have to admit that there were times you thought that Hyemi and Baekhee were the huges bitches, but in the end, they really found themselves and their hearts, and they’re both extremely talented, to boot. The casting for the first season was perfect too: full of talent and different personalities, and with perfect chemistry. It was beautiful watching 6 talented individuals come together to struggle for their debut and to stand on stage as one.

Hi, Dream High 2. Wassup.

Uh.. the casting. Idk. I like Kang Sora because of We Got Married but.. I don’t know. Jinwoon was a good choice for his character, plus he’s great at singing and personally loves rock. Um…. I don’t knowww. ;_; I personally think that the new cast is lacking a bit in talent. Hyorin and Ailee are sooo so so so so good though, but they just seem like supporting characters with no real roles that were randomly casted and thrown in there only because they’re wonderful vocalists.

As for the plotline, it kind of irks me that the main character is a girl that has no talent in neither singing or dancing. I get that I guess it would inspire those that WANT something but aren’t yet capable for it, and encourage them to work at it? And to tell them that they have a chance? But. Q A Q It’s just not going to be fair if Hyesung really gets to debut in the end!! I’m not sure if she deserves it. >< Plus, she doesn’t have real passion in singing or performing. It’d be great if along the way, she developed that passion AND became an impressive singer, but…….. I don’t think Kang Sora herself is that great at singing or dancing, so that really limits the potential of her character Hyesung.

Also, Dream High has become a drama about the life of idols, rather than the lives of talented students who are finding themselves and struggling to finally make their debut.

The characters… x_X You may shoot me for this, but I can’t find a single character that’s NOT annoying. Pretty much all of them annoy me except for the dude that’s friends with Hyesung and is good at guitar, ’cause he’s talented, but he doesn’t really have a role. The rest of them are either irritating or have rotten personalities. I swear. I can’t relate to any of the characters and I’m not fond of them either. The only character I somewhat’ish like right now is JB and that’s because he’s kind of cute and can be somewhat charming Q A Q but he has shown malicious intentions and is rude as well, so I don’t like his character.

The scripting. is.. dumb. Sorry. And do the characters really NOT want us to know any of their names other than JB’s? None of their names stick with me. I’m LUCKY that by digging deep into my memory, I can remember Hyesung’s name and Jin Yoojin’s. … or at least I think Jinwoon’s character’s name is Jin Yoojin. O_O

The editing is crap. Like the editing for Invincible Youth 2. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were the same producers. Because the editing is crap. It’s not funny or interesting, and in fact, it’s awkward and looks INCREDIBLY CHEAP. Have you seen those random-ass segments where they perform or parody k-pop songs? CHEAP AS HELLLLL, not even funny, no connection to the actual storyline, really poorly executed and put together. /forever facepalming

And OH GODDDD the discontinuity. Seriously, what the fuck?
You can’t really blame me for this because it’s a clear fact that this IS in the same realm and setting as Dream High 1, only in the future. There are many signs of this. Teacher Yang [uh.. JYP’s character whose full name I will never remember] looks back and remembers all of the times that he had with the kids from Dream High 1. And in fact, the first scene of DH2 is the filming of a documentary of Samdong’s life. So one would assume that by then, Samdong had already made it big as K, to be deserving of a documentary.

I’m pretty sure the ending of Dream High 1 where it shows the characters in the future was 8 years or something after the time when most of the series took place? And at this time, Shi Kyung Jin had become principal of Kirin High School.
………. Well what the hell happened to that?! Okay, so considering that she is no longer the principal, and now we have a new worthless principal AND THE SCHOOL HAS RUN DOWN TO THE GROUND AND IS NOW LESS THAN MEDIOCRE, we can assume that DH2 takes place waaaaaaaay later than 8 years after Dream High 1. I don’t think Shi Kyung Jin would give up Kirin that easily PLUS I don’t think Baekhee would so easily leave being a teacher there, so this must have been quite a long, long, long time later.

… So why does Samdong.. look not a day older than how he looked in Dream High 1? And WHY does Hyesung run into Pilsuk at the music station? For one thing, Pilsuk basically stopped performing and started running a kindergarten.. plus, she went back to her larger figure. And she was happy. I highly doubt that she would have suddenly decided to go back to her thin body again, so why are we seeing a thin Pilsuk that’s still performing? Q A Q

And since when did Kirin have dorms? Although I guess maybe if they decided to build dorms after the time of Dream High 1…… And why is the school suddenly so TINY? It seems like there’s only like 30-40 students in the entire school, TOTAL now. Why are there only two teachers in total?? And I feel sooo bad for Teacher Yang… His life has gone COMPLETELY DOWNHILL since season 1.
But it confuses me that Teacher Yang seems to have lost his talents? .______. He was a great singer, great dancer, and great composer in season 1 but now suddenly he’s viewed as a useless, talentless piece of burden.

And I really don’t understand the whole thing about moving OZ Entertainment to Kirin. Aren’t there like 5-6 members in E-den? Yet they only show two and it seems like other than the fact that they had a performance with all of the members for a moment, the other members that aren’t JB and Shiwoo don’t exist at all.

I’m going to keep watching this series though. x_X I’m really hoping it goes only uphill from here l-lol.. Sorry that I have a lot of complaints.

Girl Group Talk .. oh and Jo Kwon

Awwwww, Jessica, Dara, and Hyuna in one place ;_;! I love seeing members from different girlgroups interacting, especially because fans always make them seem like enemies..
Jo Kwon <3

After that, suddenly I felt like rewatching this haha. More girl group interactions!! :D! They really need to have another of these. ]: Only I guess now the reign of girlgroups is over..

111231 MBC Gayo Daejun 2011

I’m late on catching up on the 2011 gayo daejuns but I’m finally doing it LOL

SNSD – Diamond

I’m so proud of these girls ;w; they’re so strong vocally and finally some of them, like Sooyoung especially, get to show that. YES, YOU ARE SHINING AND GLEAMING!!

After School & Infinite vs. T-ara & MBLAQ

As a big fan of Joon/Jiyeon and Seungho/Soyeon and just MBLAQ/T-ara in general as pairings, I was very happy to find out they collabed. =w= Although I was kinda disappointed in their stage ’cause it wasn’t very exciting and my OTPs weren’t there, and obviously when it comes to dance, of course they lose to After School and Infinite, which are both DAMN POWERFUL. I was impressed. Kahi especialy rocked it but I kinda wish the cameraman didn’t focus on her so much.

Adam Couple (2AM’s Jo Kwon & BEG’s Ga In) – Troublemaker

O m g.. they did Troublemaker LOLLL. Well.. this was slightly awkward but they actually pulled it off quite well! Yayy I’m so happy to see Adam Couple ;w;!! [I want YongSeo too please >w<] In any case, they’re both very talented people so of course they did well.. xD;; I really wish we could see the BTS/rehearsing though because I imagine that must’ve been quite awkward.

CNBLUE, FT Island, K.Will, 2PM & Super Junior – rock stage

YES. I LOVE ALL OF THEM SO MUCH. Yonghwa<3 Kyuhyun<3 and DAAMN K.Will absolutely killed it with those killer high notes!

Wonder Girls – Me, in

Ew, technical problems. >_> MBC, wae ireoni?!
But these girls can be so fierce. They definitely rocked this. I wish they’d show this side of them off more often. ^^

Jiyeon (T-ara), Luna (f(x)), and IU – I’m Your Girl

Awww ;__; these three are definitely my favorite BFF’s in the k-pop industry. <3 They’re so cute and I’m so happy they got a stage together! They’re all really pretty and sing well too. >w>

Super Junior – Mr. Simple

Super Junior – BONAMANA

Rewatched it for fun. ;3 It was VERY entertaining.

Finally am getting a chance to catch up on my K-pop. ;______;

Super Junior K.R.Y. – Good Person

Sistar’s Hyorin & MBLAQ’s G.O. – That Man That Woman

Omg. This. Amazing emotional ballad duet between a girl idol and a guy idol, oh my gosh. They both have really emotional yet powerful voices and they both belted it out at the end. This.

G.NA & 2AM’s Jo Kwon – What I Want to Do Once I Have a Lover

Aw I love this song; it’s so cute. Jo Kwon doesn’t quite have the same charm in his voice as Rain though xD but still cute, although… ;___; I wish it was a duet between Kwon and Ga In. Although I guess Brown Eyed Girls weren’t promoting at the time so that wouldn’t make any sense.. Although 2AM isn’t promoting either, but Kwon is an MC, so. xD

110613 All My Love Leeteuk’s cut

Omg O_O All My Love has changed so much… -still disappointed that nobody’s gonna continue subbing it-

But anyway, LOLLLLLLLL LEETEUK IS SUCH AN AMAZING ACTOR. How did he pull off that nerd act?! And then the ego at the end.. xDD

Also, the way Jo Kwon treated him lollll I find it interesting because Leeteuk’s his sunbae. xD

Immortal Song 2 – Round 1

Yeah, I’m only including my favorite ones. ^^ But you can watch all of them here. [The “Tournament” ones are somewhere down there in the comments. Although I don’t understand why they have a performance and then a “tournament” performance, but -shrug-]
12 videos of ear candy~

Super Junior’s Yesung
2AM’s Changmin
SISTAR’s Hyorin
SHINee’s Jonghyun
BEAST’s Yoseob

Honestly I think this show would be so much more interesting for me if I knew the songs, which are all Korean classics. ;_; But all of them are really, really, really, very talented and all of the performances were beautiful. *___*

Yesung – Prologue

Yesung’s singing is always breathtaking. ♥ I was kind of holding by my breath at the end. ^^

Hyorin – A Goose’s Dream

I know this beautiful song because of Dream High. [: At first I thought development was really slow and the song was too low, but when it picked up at 1:36, it was really <333 Hyorin did a wonderful job!

Hyorin – That Person Then

THIS ONE. IT BLEW ME AWAY. Hyorin is SUCH a powerhouse! She completely tore the performance apart and owned the song.

Family Outing 2 – Ep 12 & 13 [Wonder Girls]

Credit: iSubs [registration required]

Rewatched these episodes because I’m a huge fan of SoHeechul. 8D I actually kind of like Taecyoon too, even though they’re overrated and this program used their scandal too much. The “Don’t do that to our  princess!” “Don’t attack our goddess then!” part LOLLLLLLL one of my favorite moments of K-variety ever. Too cute.

The last part of episode 13 made me tear up again. D;

T-ara – Hyomin
Sistar – Hyorin
Kara – Hara, Seungyeon
Secret – Sunhwa

This was an amazing special lol. They all fly to Pattaya, Thailand and play water games. It’s pretty much like Love Letter or Introducing Star’s Friend in the sense that it’s based around forming couples… ^^;; But I actually find that quite interesting so I enjoyed it. I love seeing members of different groups interacting.

I actually agree with all the couples! :D
So happy for Lizzy ^^ And UEE was great in this. xD

MINHO AND KRYSTAL. <33333 Those two, omg. They have perfect chemistry and they’re always paired together! Like when they did the couples Dream Team episode, they were a couple and Krystal BROKE A RECORD. They were so amazing. And after that, I think they started coupling up for everything. ;D Plus, SHINee and f(x) are like counterpart groups so it works out well. [:
It’s weird though ’cause usually idols don’t couple with idols from the same company… D: It’s really rare. But these two are always together.

And Donghae and Hara~ *__* I’m happy for Donghae since Hara is so popular. xD But the bit where Hara accidentally climbed onto Seungri’s back instead of Donghae’s was awesome lol. I actually like Hara and Seungri together too >___> but they’re good friends.
